The Boston PD have managed to regain control of their news website BPDnews.com from the hacktivist collective Anonymous. The police site was breached last week and replaced with the standard “ur pwned” fare.

From Boston Herald:

BPDnews.com gradually came back online starting late last night and was fully accessible as of this morning, said department spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll. She said the department’s technical staff has stepped up levels of security to help prevent further hacks, but declined to elaborate on what measures were taken.

“We’re hopeful this doesn’t happen again,” Driscoll said. “But you can never technically guarantee that.”

True. Anyone who tells you they can make you 100% secure is lying to you.

The Boston Police did manage to show that they have a sense of humour. They posted this video of their own about the breach.

I’ll give them points for that one. Well played.
