Well, I’m here in Vegas for Black Hat / Defcon and it is good to be back. I was fortunate enough to get a training session here with Dafydd Stuttard and Wade Alcorn from NGS. Excellent training to say the least. I’ll write more about that later on.

Now, the trip here evoked some wrath on my part. One thing in particular that I would like to say is that when you are on a flight that you take the time to see who is behind you. On my flight there was a guy named Sam and his wife seated in front of me. Sam, was good enough to show me (and anyone behind him) internal security documents from his company. Included but, not limited to, security architecture and various HR documents with ALL of his information in full view. When you have a laptop with a widescreen it is usually not a great idea to show the rest of the flight what you might be working on. Especially when that flight is loaded with folks headed to Black Hat.

Now, his wife decided at some point early in the flight to put her seat back. Normally I would not have a problem with that. I’m not against that in principle. When she put her seat back it became a veritable rocket. The seat came back so quickly that my drink went flying and landed on the floor. The guy sitting next to me exclaimed “holy shit lady where’s your brain?” and I vented a similar refrain. The part of this that annoyed my most was that if I had my MacBook open at the time it would have been utterly destroyed. So, have a moment to think before you put your seat back on a flight.

Rant off. It’s good to be back and to see old faces and to meet some new ones. Now, I need coffee.
