After having a chat with several Allstream people it seems that Allstream’s Security practise is in play. There are currently talks underway to sell off the division. Since MTS purchased Allstream in 2004. This triggered a consolidation in the telecom space in Canada according to Forrester Research or at least that was the thought in 04. In February 2006 we saw the writing on the wall come into sharper focus. MTS announced a business review. Omnious sounding, this was followed soon afterwards with a hastily conceived and executed sales road show. The attendance in Toronto was sad. I actually felt bad for them, even if they were sales people. So now we draw closer to the end game.

“If anything, MTS CEO Pierre Blouin may find himself into a no-win situation. No matter what he does to try to fix Allstream, there may not be a way to stop the Titantic from sinking.”

Looks the deck chairs have run out of time.
