OK, I can’t believe that I’m saying this but, today Microsoft managed to do something very cool. I’ve never really been a fan. I use linux and soon Mac but, with the purchase of Whale Communications the folks in Redmond have picked up an excellent asset. Whale Communications was originally based in Israel rather than New Jersey. While it is being touted as an SSL VPN company, it is much more. Gartner missed out on the stronger aspect of this purchase. The application security technologies that this company provide are incredible. I have used their gateway appliance that uses a serial disconnect between external and internal traffic helping to counter buffer overflows for one. Whale has always played well with Microsoft software and this will be an easy integration. I’m impressed. They have done a bang up job with this purchase. And congrats to the Whale gang.
