There’s a new report out form US based McAfee that suggest that Mac users are complacent on security. Well, yeah. I know quite a few people that have Macs, (sadly not yours truly) and they tend to wave me away when the subject of Apple security comes up. This aloof detachment comes from years of shaking their heads at Windows (thankfully, not me) users as they would constantly scramble to update antivirus signatures. Well, with the switch to intel chips, and the rise in popularity, the Mac users can look forward to more malware activity. Still, Mac OS X is a superior operating system. I’m a linux user but, still a big fan of Mac. I’m holding on for the second generation Macbooks before I take the plunge.
“Many believe that using an Apple operating system is a form of security in itself, believing that they are far less susceptible to malware than Windows users,” said Stuart McClure, senior vice president for global threats at McAfee.
Time’s up.
