Canada Urged To Build Foreign Spying Agency

A former head spy, Sir Richard Dearlove aka “C”, for Britain’s MI6 has come out to say that Canada should stop relying on foreign services for help and do it themselves. He said that Canada should build it’s own foreign service.

“Canada has always been dependent on the free intelligence handouts that it receives from its close allies, notably the U.S. and the U.K.,” Sir Richard Dearlove, the head of MI6 from 1999 to 2004, recently told a University of Toronto audience.

“. . . My own view is that it is time that Canada faced up to its international responsibilities and created its own foreign intelligence capability.”

The current Conservative government has committed to creating such an agency although no plans have been anounced. I find it rather convenient for Dearlove to cast Canada in a light of the mooching Brother in law. How soon we forget the contributions of Canadians to the safety of Britain and the western world.
