OK, this is rather interesting. This article about potential attacks seems to raise more questions that anything. What does the DHS actually know? I realize that they will never provide that sort of information. But, bearing in mind the unclassified nature of this bulletin I would imagine that they have some actionable intelligence.
From ComputerWorld:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security today issued a somewhat unusual bulletin warning the security community about the planned activities of hacking collective Anonymous over the next few months.
The bulletin, issued by the DHS National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC), warns financial services companies especially to be on the lookout for attempts by Anonymous to “solicit ideologically dissatisfied, sympathetic employees” to their cause.
According to the DHS bulletin these are the alleged events that are looming are:
- Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is scheduled for Sept. 17
- Operation Facebook a November 11
- Project Mayhem, scheduled for Dec 21, 2012

Given the number of arrests associated with Anonymous over the course of the last month or so, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone sold them out.
@Steve I would place a LOT of money on that one.
You realize that the FBI often infiltrates groups of all kinds, including peaceful protest groups? thats how they get the info. And I can confirm that occupywallstreet is happening. Project mayhem is also happening. However “Operation: Facebook” was abandoned by the majority of anonymous, the people organizing it now are not, i repeat not, representing all of anonymous.
