EnCase Forensics Training Day 1

Well, I’m again grumping about the lack of connectivity I have in this mobile world. As the sun goes down here in LA I’m slowly grinding my teeth into a fine powder. Not because it’s cold enough to etch glass with my nipples. Rather, because I NEED to be able to work smarter. I’m here in LA taking an advanced forensics course and was enjoying having my brain squeezed out my ears and stamped on when the phone started to ring. I checked the number, the office, turned out that there was a need to do some forensic investigation. If I had a Treo I could have done the entire job from the sidewalk in the cool sunshine. But, enough of that.

Now the course, is brilliant. The EnCase Enterprise Suite affords users of the software the ability to respond quickly to incidents and to enforce compliance. The latest edition is incredibly flexible with it’s presentation of data. Previous versions constrained you to a single interface. Now the sub panels can be “popped” out. This helps if you have a dual headed display. Also, the latest version, 5.05a, has the ability to perform forensic investigations on Mac OSX systems. Very cool. Since my brain has leaked out of my ears I’m going to leave it at for that for the time being. I will write more later on.
