This week seems to be two factor authentication week. Yesterday we read about Amazon rolling out their “Login” product offering and today we find that Evernote is now offering two factor auth for their premium and business users. This is a great step coming a couple months after the well publicized breach. It is unfortunate however that it had to take a breach to get this rolled out.

From Evernote:

What makes two-step verification powerful is the six-digit verification code. This code is delivered to your mobile phone via text message or, if you prefer, generated by an app that runs on your smart phone, such as Google Authenticator. We’ll also give you a set of one-time backup codes for when you’re traveling.

In addition they have added the ability to check the access history and what applications have permissions to access your instance of Evernote. These parts are available for all of their users.

Still, pity they couldn’t roll the two factor auth for all of the customers.
