Previously, I covered the story of former sysadmin, Roger Duronio. Well today he was found guilty of attacking UBS systems four years ago when he didn’t get the bonus he was hoping for.

After about 20 hours of deliberation, the jury returned a guilty verdict on two out of four charges for Roger Duronio, 63, of Bogota, N.J. Duronio was found guilty of computer sabotage and securities fraud. He was acquitted on two counts of mail fraud. He will be sentenced at a later date.

From reports it appears that prosecutors are looking to bury Roger at the sentencing.

  1. I am the daughter of roger duronio(accused logic bomber) UBS is the criminal here not my father.UBS destroyed evidence that they claim they found at my fathers home on his computer..how convient…the peice of paper that had this malicious code that was planted by the FBI on my fathers nightstand did not have his prints on but it did have somebody elses prints that still to this day have not been identified. My father was UBS fall guy because they are not smart enough to have figured out what is wrong with there security system. Cisco was in the system the same time this bomb went off (undetected) But to the public and share holders UBS got there man. But they didnt and UBS is still at a threat for security issues which apparently they always have been. The true criminals here are UBS for destroying evididence and having a man sentenced to potential death..just because there system is not secure and they could not really trace the true culprit here..yea it must have UBS 3.1 million to keep this whole thing covered up…having the only evidence destroyed..having the FBI plant a document in my parents home that did not even have his fingerprints on it, but somebody elses that still is unidentified.. UBS did not solve a crime here..they just ruined an inncocent mans life and his family..and just to get the record straight..it was not a bonus my father was upset about it was written in his contract to get that amount of money as a consultant and when he became an employee…the put options were bought because my father knew that the new management from paine webber to ubs were a bunch of idiots and the stock would drop because of there management skills…UBS and the FBI should be investigated…UBS is still at risk and the FBI is on the take..this is what this trial was all about.. did not solve anything and i hope that who ever they covered up for attacks the system again..but makes sure UBS will never recover!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Well Tammy, if you are in fact who you claim to be (velencia). I should point out that he was found guilty in a court of law. Therefore he is not innocent per se. To be fair you are viewing the entire scenario through the eyes of a biased party. If he were really innocent it was a failing on the part of his defense not to introduce the evidence that you claim as factual. It is regrettable that the FBI turned your lives inside out but, that is something that you father should have taken into account in the first place. I have conducted forensic investigations in the past and I have learned that people who claim to be innocent, seldom are. The evidence doesn’t lie, people do.

Now, with respects to the actions of UBS I would be out of my depth to comment as I have no insight into their inner workings. UBS did not find your father guilty a court of law did. To claim that the FBI is on the take is absurd and to say that they planted evidence is well, nuts. What could they possibly have to gain? And yes, as long as any company has humans on staff they are vulnerable from a security perspective. That’s a fact of life.

I’m sorry that your father is incarcerated but, I can’t feel too bad for him as he was found guilty in a court of law. If he is innocent he can appeal. When you calm down you can take time to think this through. Review the case and the evidence and if you are convinced that there was a demonstrable mistake of law he can appeal.

    Best of luck to you.

  3. Dave..thankyou for you thoughts on my comment..I to believe that evidence is what counts to find one guilty..but dave the evidence here was not clear…the computer that had the string on it that was found in my fathers home had been destroyed..WHY? My father knew that he was going to be investigated and was told this when everything happened..UBS informed him of this…why would my father leave a peice of paper with this code on it on his dresser, or a computer with this code in his home? The evidence here is the put options..this is what has the jury based their decsion on..23000 is alot of money to most people…and a man betting it against a company that he just quit is what linked my father to this amature crime…do you know one of the men that testified for UBS Giacanna aslo stated at the trial that he bought put options as well? good thing he didnt quit his job…or maybe it would have been him going to jail…do you know that UBS paid off two employees Rob and Charlie who worked in the same department as my father…and with that pay off they had to sign that they would not say anything against UBS? Did you know this? My father did not lie here…this was a very complicated case and very technical and i do agree with you, his defense failed him..there were certain things that should of been discussed further..why my dad bought the options…well paine webber sold out too cheap in the beginning with the deal with UBS..the management team didnt have my fathers faith in the business savy…he also bought stock puts from GE that same day…the reason why my father is going to probably die in prison..is not because of the evidence its because of the lack of intelligence in this area of the industry of computers..the only thing the jury had to base this on was my dad quit his job and bought stocks against the company…and could of been one of many and repeat many people to have planted this very ameture code…I thankyou for your comment and hope and pray that maybe you wake up to our government and this is not the first time that the government has commited crimes and got away with it…
