The MIS Training Institute has managed to face plant in glorious fashion. They have asked Gregory D. Evans to be a keynote speaker for their 2nd Annual ICT Security Africa Summit in Ghana in September.
From the conference page:
While this is a unfortunate choice to say the least, it becomes a little more interesting when we review the latest email thread to hit pastebin.
Dear Gregory,

Please urgently send me the passport number, along with the airport that
you would like to travel from and the dates that you would like to
travel. The visa process needs to begin immediately. Please also send me your telephone number as I have no way of contacting
you at the moment.=20
I look forward to your prompt response.

Kind regards,
Kate
So far, based on the email thread, Evans has avoided sending his passport number despite multiple requests. A blessing in disguise for the conference once they realize who they have on tap to keynote.
Moral of the story is, DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Does anyone know of he is even legally able to travel outside of the US?
We have archived a copy of the email thread in the event that it is removed from pastebin. Archive (.pdf)
Editor Note: The pdf links are buggered. Will post again once we figure out what’s going on.
Update: Files are accessible again. The server gremlins were captured and are being BBQ’d for dinner.
Here is a copy of the conference page for historical record. Archive (.pdf)
UPDATE (Aug 24): A tip of the hat to theprez98 and the community at large for emailing the organizers and the folks from MIS for doing the right thing. Mr. Evans is no longer on the speakers list for the conference.
