A pain I know all to well. Trying to find good stock art for anything “hacker” related.
From Boing Boing:
Problem: Until they’re captured, alleged hackers don’t make for stories with good art. But readers won’t look at words unless they are immediately adjacent to pictures. Solution: stock art! I am delighted to report that there is an abundance of stock art geared toward illustrating news stories about cybercrime.
Follow the link for a long parade of…um, interesting “hacker” stock art.

There are plenty of interesting hacker photos out there, just search for defcon on flickr. I particularly like all the crazy mohawk photos from last year.
@Mr. Glass Agreed. It’s just funny when you end up thumbing through the stock image companies.
The unfortunate part about images in news articles is sometimes I will find myself scrolling down my RSS feeds and using the images as the means for deciding if I want to read the article or not. This breaks when the images are stock images and may offer zero indication (or misinformation!) of the content, and I instead move on past an article.
In that case, I’d prefer no images at all. Then again, maybe I’m not a typical reader and I actually don’t care for images at all unless they’re directly related to the post. I’d rather not have my attention drawn away from the words.
