Huh? Well, no sooner had Google announced that they were starting a security blog we see a security related purchase. Well, on May 11th, close enough.
GreenBorder is a security software company that provides a webified sandbox for want of a better term. It would provide a secure virtual environment for the IE browser and more recently, Firefox. This would allow the user a greater level of security when downloading files from the internet by not allowing potential malware to interact with the operating system. This won’t be much use in the case of phishing attacks or similar social engineering attacks however.
This has the hallmarks of an interesting piece of security software (admittedly, I have never used it). I can see this as a welcome addition to Google’s stable of web applications. A gbrowser browser perchance?
