Google is at it again. Then again, when did they ever stop? Rumours were flying about recently that Google would be providing a online storage service. Well it turns out that this is in fact correct (possibly). Over on the BBC It seems that Google’s new offering is to be called the GDrive. I have to admit that I’m a little concerned about this from a security perspective. Corporate security types will most likely be losing a great deal of sleep over this one. Imagine if you will a user backing up his/her work files so they can “work on them from home”. Those files sensitive or not are now outside the company’s control and firmly in the grasp of Google. Here’s a clip from a presentation that was posted in error.

“With infinite storage, we can house all user files, including e-mails, web history, pictures, bookmarks, etc; and make it accessible from anywhere (any device, any platform, etc).”

While I’m an admitted fan of some of the products that Google has I’m really worried about the potential impact this one will have.
