It’s March 24 and that makes this Lady Ada Day – a day to celebrate women in computing and the incredible contributions they’ve made (despite the efforts of entirely too many men in computing.)
As a reminder to our readership, women mathematicians have made some of the greatest unsung contributions to what we think of as modern cryptography. Take a few minutes and go watch the documentary “The Women of Station X“, a poignant reminder of the Wrens who worked at Bletchley Park performing the repetitive math of cryptanalysis largely by hand.
While you’re at it, spend some quality time thinking of ways to even the playing field and recognize the contributions of women to our profession.
