After having weathered their troubles with the SEC it seems that McAfee might be turning a corner. Yesterday it was announced that they had managed to scoop EMC’s head of worldwide customer operations. David DeWalt will be taking over from George Samenuk as CEO. Samenuk stepped down recently under a cloud brought on by a stock option backdating scandal.
“I have to restore the image of McAfee,” DeWalt said in an interview. “Part of what I have to do is instill integrity in what we’re doing as a company, make sure we’re beyond squeaky clean as a company and an entity, and produce good products and technology.”
DeWalt, who joined EMC in 2003, will remain at the world’s largest maker of data-storage computers and software through April 1, EMC spokesman Michael Gallant said in an interview.
Good score for McAfee. Hopefully DeWalt can bring them out of their funk. Case in point, the 14th place showing in the latest antivirus cook off.
