Microsoft’s Online Password Checker

I’m not sure how much I would trust an online password checker but, Microsoft has provided one on their website. I stumbled upon this today in my travels around the void. The password checker tests the strength of a password that you type into the field. I was less than amused that “Password” scores a medium. But, what can you expect for a free app from Redmond? “Password Checker can help you to gauge the strength of your password. It is for personal reference only. Password Checker does not guarantee the security of the password itself.” No kidding.

If you are worried about entering your passwords into this tool to test them then yes, you get a gold star.

Password Checker does not collect, store, or transmit information beyond the computer that you use to access Password Checker. The image works on your computer desktop until you navigate away from the page.

The security of the passwords entered into Password Checker is similar to the security of the password you enter when you log into Windows. The password is checked and validated on your computer, but is not sent over the Internet.

Please do not enter passwords in here that are legit or from your company/school. That would be bad mojo. This is interesting way to blow 10 minutes.
