Well talk about sensory overload. I have to say that RSA 2007 (my first
attendance by the way) is just too much. I was warned about the
sharks sales folks that patrol these waters. I should
have listened. There are a lot of good companies here in attendance such
as Websense, Application Security Inc. and (of course) RSA.
There are some real boneheaded showings at the conference. 8e6
Technologies and (the grand prize winner for sleaze) Chosen Security
have trotted out the trampy booth bunnies. They have, as you might be
able to make out from this grainy pic from my RAZR, two women wearing
dominatrix chic while riding Segways. Give me a f***ing break.
It speaks volumes to the lack of faith that a company has in its own
products that they feel it necessary to roll out the raunchy booth
bunnies. While the nerd contingent has shown appreciation for this
marketing I have to shake my head. Pathetic folks.
The keynote from Bill Gates was interesting and offered a cautious tone.
The amount of travel that he has been subjecting himself to as he runs
around promoting the Vista launch was evident. He looks like he could
sleep for a week.
There was a funny thing here and there. I had a nice long talk with the
folks from Narus. I was curious is they would recognize me but, other
than a raised eyebrow I think I passed.
