SANS Institute presented its award (2006) for “Control Security Leadership” to Invensys Process Systems. This company specializes in services and solutions for the automation and optimisation of plant operation in the process industries.
The citation honored Invensys for demonstrating that vendors can take much of the pain, cost, and uncertainty out of securing process and SCADA systems. It identified certain Invensys practices, including pre-testing of operating system updates and software security patches, and enhancements, such as providing anti-virus measures within its core distributed control system product to make security better, easier, and less expensive for asset owners.
