Of all the things that I’ve seen this one ranks up there in the “WTF?” category. At the Infosec conference in London the McAfee folks were scanning for wee beasties on the wireless networks. Now, this is a conference full of SECURITY types. So, what did they see…the freakin Slammer worm of all damn things. These folks are supposed to be “experts” geez.
“What’s even more disturbing is the nature of this virus; it is almost archaic in security terms. The ‘Slammer worm’ has been fixable for ages. In short, there is no excuse for this to have even been present at the show, especially by so-called security companies.”
Couldn’t have said it better.
