This just off the wire. The security company Symantec, filed suit today in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle. The core of the action deals with blocking Microsoft from using Symantec technology.

The complaint involves Symantec’s Volume Manager product, acquired as part of the company’s takeover of Veritas Software. Volume Manager allows operating systems to store and manipulate large amounts of data, according to a Symantec statement.

It looks like the cold war between these two is going to get worse before it gets better.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in Seattle charges the world’s biggest software maker with misappropriating intellectual property and breach of contract related to a licensing deal with Veritas, which Symantec acquired last year.
