Folks tuning to read The Register today were greeted with a hack page courtesy of a Turkish hacker group.

A quick check of their Twitter feed showed that they were in no mood to answer questions not posed in Turkish.

No word as to the extent of the breach or how they may have gained access. I would imagine that el Reg will let us know in time.

UPDATE: Turns out that it was a DNS hijack that also affected the Telegraph. (h/t Chris @Walshman23)

A search of Zone-H demonstrates how wide ranging the effects of this DNS attack were. Here is a screen cap for posterity.
