There are sometimes when I’m reading an article and I can only lean back in my chair and rub my eyes. Then, lean in close to the screen to make sure that I’m not seeing things.
Yup, I read it. Apparently the folks at Wikileaks are buying a boat. The entire idea being that they could park the boat in international waters to avoid legal entanglements.
Gee, what could “possiblie” go wrong?
From C|NET:
WikiLeaks investors are currently working on completing a deal to buy a boat that would house the controversial site’s servers in international waters, Fox News is reporting today, citing sources. By moving the servers offshore, WikiLeaks, which currently has servers in Sweden and Iceland, among other countries, believes that it will be able to evade U.S. law enforcement and save its founder Julian Assange from prosecution.
According to Fox News, one of its sources “within the hacker community” said that by moving the servers offshore, the site would be governed by maritime law, making Assange “safe” from prosecution.
Fox News being the beacon of journalistic integrity that it is, I must pause and add my grains of salt to this so that it is easier to digest.
But, I’m certain that everything will be just fine and that this plan will work out flawlessly…
